Study on a pencil skirt with pleat accross
Study on a pencil skirt with pleat across
That post is another project done in the class.
We took the model from my favorite blog and started from that picture.
The pattern plot was already drawn and my student Jeannie had to give it shape and developed it to her own measurements.
Here is the result (or results as we made 3 attempts before being satisfied). We changed few things from the original picture or the original interpretation.
- first attempt : the yoke line doesn’t show continuation under the pleat
- Jeannie had stitched the pleats into darts to keep in place the first diagonal pleat. We wanted better than that.
- More work had to be done : development on a half size mannequin to understand the “behind the scene” of the construction
- Third attempt: satisfactory enough to cut the skirt. the pleats stay in place with a thick structured fabric.
- third attempt : side view. the two secondary pleats fall nicely
- Final : we are not too far from the original
I am so happy when we have such good work done in class. We are far from beginners level now!!!! The level of difficulty is pretty high now as the class goes on….
